I myself needed an HVM AMI of CentOS (building a big Riak cluster) and was trying to convert the existing Marketplace PV AMI to HVM. It would be nice if the Official CentOS AMIs were in the Community AMI pool. Or replicated into both Marketplace and Community.

Jan 26, 2008 · Because Amazon Linux 2 is free, supported by AWS, based on RHEL/CentOS 7, kernel level optimized for AWS hypervisors, supports AWS features without manual configuration (like attaching a second ENI, enhanced networking, etc.), and comes with all AWS tooling and daemons pre-installed, so you see the instances in CloudWatch and Systems Manager. AMI 'ami-0a6cd0a80fba6b4d0' with an instance-store root device is not supported for the instance type 't2.micro'. The strange thing here is: I am using this bit of code for the last 4 weeks without problems, and now suddenly it gives a problem.
Jan 25, 2012 · OK I just launched a single instance of the StarCluster Ubuntu 11.10 HVM AMI (ami-4583572c) using: $ starcluster start -s 1 -i cg1.4xlarge -n ami-4583572c -b 1.00 -o gputest The -o option tells starcluster to simply launch the instance and exit. After the instance was up I immediately logged in and tried nvidia-smi which seemed to work fine:

description - The description of the AMI that was provided during image creation. hypervisor - The hypervisor type of the image. image_id - The ID of the AMI. Should be the same as the resource id. image_location - The location of the AMI. image_owner_alias - The AWS account alias (for example, amazon, self) or the AWS account ID of the AMI owner.
